The What Annuity portal needed to allow Financial Advisers and direct customers accessing the site the ability to make quotes based upon their final pension funds. The resulting quotes can then be used to speed up the final application for an Annuity.
The final solution was produced based upon ASP.Net (C#), SQL server 2000, XML, XSLT, XHTML and JavaScript. The Annuity quote system allows users to get real-time quotes from the product providers (Norwich Union, Legal & General etc.) who will potentially be completing the Annuity application with. My part in the project was to manage the design of the user interface and produce a set of design guidelines for the developers to work from.
The resulting design guidelines, allowed the client and the business to clearly define screen-by-screen the overlaying user interface of the system. During the development phase of the application I worked in tandem with the lead developer to mange any technical issues that creped in sign off completed screens with the client.
Because the design guidelines were broken down into reusable components (the building blocks of complete pages), the development progressed quickly after the initial foundation building. The site is currently live and can be seen at the below link.
